Submitting Design

Die-Cut Shape Design Guide

If your design is going to be die-cut, then it will need to have a cutter guide. This is an outline or stroke in your artwork file which matches the shape of the finished design. The cutter guide shape is sent off to our die-cutters, who then assemble a cutter block with a custom-shaped blade which we use to cut your tickets to the desired shape.

When creating the cutter guide outline in your artwork file, please use a 1pt stroke in a separate spot colour to your artwork and rename the layer to ‘cutter’. A magenta, red or green colour is good to use as it can be easily seen on the final PDF.

Our team also has an ever-growing library of ready-made cutter blocks in a range of versatile shapes. To find out which shapes are available, simply get in touch!

Bleed is vitally important. If your design has a solid colour, gradient or image that runs to the edge of the artwork, the blade on the cutter can move very slightly when cutting, so you need to extend the artwork by at least 3mm to avoid any white areas on your final print. It is also good practice to have any text or important information in a 'safe area'. We recommend this to be 6mm inside the edge of the shape outline.

Variable Data within Designs

If you require raffle tickets with unique printed details on each ticket, our team can provide this using a process known as variable data printing.

To set up a variable print, you’ll need to supply your ‘base’ artwork file and a spreadsheet of the variable details you want to print. This spreadsheet can be created in programs such as Microsoft Excel or Open Office.

Simply list the variables in separate columns with a heading at the top e.g Winners, Losers, Prizes, Numbers, Date, Pin Numbers, Barcode etc.

On the artwork, be sure to mark or highlight the areas where you’d like the variable elements to be printed.

If you’re looking to print images as variable elements (such as icons, maps or staff headshots),  please supply the images as separate files.  All standard image files are fine e.g PDF, JPEG, TIFF, EPS.

If you are unsure or need assistance please email or call and we will be happy to help.

Supplying Artwork

To achieve good quality print it is important that your artwork is supplied at the highest possible standard.

There are some artwork requirements that are standard for all printers, by making sure you understand these at

the beginning of the design process you can ensure your artwork will be ready to print.

Self Checking

Please make sure you proofread your document for spelling and grammatical errors and double check the size, layout and design before sending your artwork.

File Types

We prefer artwork to be supplied as high resolution PDF files at the correct size for printing. We do accept all industry standard file types, including: Adobe Indesign (.indd), Adobe Photoshop (.psd), Adobe Illustrator (.ai), TIFFs (.tif)  and  JPEGs (.jpg).

We can also accept files from office suites such as MS Word, MS Powerpoint and MS Publisher, however these file types can cause minor layout problems and may take artwork correction and re-proofing.

We will send you a Post-RIPed proof for you to check before proceeding to print to ensure your design has processed correctly. You will need to check this thoroughly to make sure you are happy with the content.

We cannot be held responsible for any errors that occur after the proof has been approved.

  • Check - final check for spelling, grammar, layout and design.
  • File type – preferably supplied as high resolution (press quality) 300dpi PDFs.
  • Images – images should be 300dpi at actual printed size.
  • Fonts – all fonts should be embedded, supplied or converted to outlines.
  • Application Files – If supplying application files such as Adobe Indesign or Illustrator, please ensure all fonts and images are included.
  • Colour – please supply as CMYK, not RGB. It is important to ensure that all images used are also converted to CMYK. Using RGB can cause incorrect colour reproduction.
  • Marks & Bleed – files need to be supplied with trim marks and 3mm bleed.
  • Layout – If supplying a PDF file with multiple pages like a brochure or booklet for example, please supply as SINGLE pages. Please do not supply as spreads (pages side by side). This does not apply to artwork being supplied in Adobe Indesign or Illustrator.
  • Spot colours – please ensure all spot colours are set up correctly.
  • Cutter guides – If you are using your own cutter guide, please ensure your cutter is set up as a spot colour and set to overprint. Alternatively we have a large selection of cutter templates available upon request.
