Charity Challenges For 2021
Here at Charity Cheques UK we understand that charity, whether large-scale or individual, is hugely important. That’s why we’ve compiled some helpful ideas for fundraising, including some of our favourite charity challenges for 2021, so that you can give back, should you wish.
Take part in an organised event
In the UK, we have numerous charity events running on any given day! If you’re keen to take part in an organised event, there are lots to choose from. Some of our favourites include:
The Race For Life
This fun event raises funds for Cancer Research UK. Walk, jog or run 3k, 5k or 10k and ask your friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you! Pay an entrance fee to help run the event and dress up in bright pink or purchase an iconic T Shirt for an extra-festive-feel. Take part in your local city and have a blast joining in group warm ups - and you get a medal for your effort too!
Go Sober For October
This year, the Go Sober For October event is in full swing! An event that you do by yourself or with a group of friends, this virtual challenge doesn’t require meeting up with anyone or travelling anywhere. Simply choose from 14, 21 or the full 31 days sober, sign up and ask your friends and family to sponsor you. This event is in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support - so it does good for others, whilst also giving your liver a break!
Alzheimer's Memory Walk
You can take part in the Alzheimer's Memory Walk by yourself (choosing your own route and time) or as part of an organised event (see full list of 2021 dates here). Raise funds for people affected by dementia. Sign up for free today and receive a fundraising pack!

Create your own fundraising
Whereas it’s often enjoyable to be part of a team or organised event, there’s nothing to stop you creating your own fundraising events! Some of our favourites include:
Bake sale
A classic! Round up your colleagues or friends and bake a cake each. Sell at work or school, and watch the profits roll in for your chosen charity. Everybody loves cake!
Raffle or tombolo
Creating a workplace raffle can raise money quickly and efficiently, whilst everyone has a fun and memorable time! Be sure to check the gambling commission's rules on raffles, before organising your event.
Create a task auction
Popular at workplaces or in universities, a task auction is a fun and simple way to raise funds for your chosen charity. One of the most fun and interactive charity challenges, the task auction requires very little planning and expenditure to acheive. Get a group of pals together and decide what tasks you’ll auction off. Popular tasks include:
- Vacuuming your house
- Cleaning your dishes for a week
- 1 hour of home DIY
- Home pedicure
- Picking up dry cleaning
- Cooking a three course meal
If you have any special skills, now's the time to put them to good use! Can you give someone a juggling lesson or a back massage? Are you a wizard at cross stitch? Can you make a souffle to die for? Auction those skills off and raise some profits in the process.
Whatever charity challenges you take part in, invest in a novelty charity cheque to present to your chosen charity. Not only will this make a fantastic photo opportunity, it will also glean attention for the charity itself and maybe even encourage future donations and fundraising!
